Rosamund Pike was born in London to a classical violinist, Caroline and an opera singer, Julian. Pike began acting at the National Youth Theatre and was first spotted by an agent while appearing in a production of Romeo and Juliet before she made her debut as Miranda Frost in Die Another Day (2002).

Though Pike's debut was a mega action film, the projects that followed were mostly low budget films like Promised Land (2004). Her roles in movies like Doom (2005), Fracture (2007), Pride and Prejudice (2005) and An Education (2009) are among her most noteworthy performances. She also appeared in the spoof- Johnny English Reborn (2011), the sci-fi epic- Wrath of the Titans (2012) and returned to action films as the female lead in Jack Reacher (2012). She was last seen in the mind boggling movie Gone Girl (2014). Her upcoming movie What We Did on Our Holiday is set to grace the screens in June 2015.

Rosamund spent her childhood traveling around Europe, as a result of which she can speak German and French fluently.
