Early Life-
Arnold Schwarzenegger was born in Austria. He grew up in the small village of Thal and turned to body building as a young man. By generating a new international audience for bodybuilding, Schwarzenegger turned into a global sports icon. He immigrated to America in 1968 and won 5 Mr. Universe titles and 7 Mr. Olympia titles, after which he retired from competitive body building and devoted himself exclusively to acting. Arnold's first starring role was in the film'Hercules in New York' (1970). He was credited as Arnold Strong and this was the only film where didn't go by his original name. With his intense physical strength and size, Arnold was a natural when it came to action films. In 1984, Schwarzenegger blazed onto the screen and launched himself into cinema history as the title character in the film, Terminator. Till date his movies have grossed more than $3 Billion worldwide. In addition to acting Arnold has served as the 38th Governor of California from 2003 to 2010.
Career Highlights:
Although Arnold's role in the Terminator is what he is most famous for, he earned himself the prestigious Golden Globe Award for the Best Actor in 1977 for his performance in 'Stay Hungry'. His roles in films like Twins (1988) and Kindergarten Cop (1991) also won him rave reviews. Arnold is well known for his work in Conan the Barbarian (1982), Commmando (1985), Predator (1987), The Running Man (1987), Kindergarten Cop (1990), Terminator 2 - Judgment Day (1991), Last Action Hero (1993), True Lies (1994), Red Heat (1998), End of Days (1999) and The Expendables (2010). Arnold was last seen in The Expendables 3 (2014). His upcoming film Terminator Genisys is slated to release in 2015.

Little Known Facts:

- Arnold's childhood friends joked that he dreamed of going to America, winning many body building titles, becoming a famous actor, marrying a Kennedy, and being a politician. All of which he managed to accomplish.

- Arnold's parents feared he was gay when he was a teenager because he worshipped bodybuilders. His mother Aurelia phoned a doctor because she thought her son was 'turning south' due to all the pictures of oiled up males on his bedroom walls.

-During a year of national service in the Austrian army Arnold went missing during basic training in order to attend a bodybuilding competition. He was punished and spent a week in the army jail.

- Early in his career he appeared as a contestant on The Dating Game.

- Arnold made his American television debut alongside Lucille Ball.

-The Guinness Book of World Records dubbed Arnold as the most perfectly developed man in the history of the world.
